A lucky Berkshire County guy scoops a big jackpot recently

A Great Barrington man is the winner of the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$4,000,000 Monopoly Doubler” $10 instant ticket game.

Richard Swiater of Great Barrington chose the cash option and received a one-time payment of $650,000, before taxes, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery.

Swiater says he does not have any immediate plans for his winnings. The winning ticket was purchased at Silk’s Variety on Main Street in Sheffield. The retailer will receive a $10,000 bonus for the sale of the ticket.

The winner has to reach the nearest lottery headquarters for further documentation formalities and for claiming their winning prize money, lottery officials said.

They also announced that the winner has only 180 days from the day of the lottery draw to claim the winning prize money.
