A Massachusetts state lottery player from R.I. wins a big jackpot recently

A Rhode Island man won a $4 million lottery prize from a Massachusetts State Lottery scratch ticket his dad gave him one morning during breakfast.

Steven Richard, of Barrington, R.I., won his $4 million prize from the lottery’s “$4,000,000 Bonus Bucks” scratch ticket game, which costs $10 per ticket to play.

Richard’s father, who often gives his son lottery tickets when they have breakfast together, gave him the winning $4 million ticket the morning of March 29, the day he claimed his prize.

Richard told the lottery he couldn’t believe he’d won $4 million when he scratched it later in the day, and scanned the ticket into his Mass Lottery app to be sure.

He told his wife, then called his father to tell him he’d won, the lottery said.
