The winner took home a total of $3 million

A call from the retailer where a Wexford County man purchased Lotto 47 tickets led him to find out he won the game’s $4.37 million jackpot.

The lucky 71-year-old player wants to remain anonymous.

The winner numbers for January 20 were 08-23-26-31-36-40.

He bought his winning ticket at Amvets Post 110, located at 127 West Cass Street in Cadillac.

The lottery officials talked to the winner

“I bought five Lotto 47 tickets while I was at Amvets,” said the player.

“The next day, I got a call from the worker who sold me the tickets, telling me to check mine because they had sold a jackpot winner.

I looked up the winning numbers and then looked over my ticket and sure enough, I was the big winner! I’m still in disbelief!”

The lucky player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize.

He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $3 million rather than annuity payments for the full amount.

If anybody has a winning ticket, the player must keep it safe and claim the winning prize by visiting the nearest lottery headquarters. The player can also have the facility of calling or sending mail to start the claiming process.
