How do you play Powerball in New Jersey?
Powerball® costs $2 each play. Choose five numbers from 1 to 69 for the white balls; then select one number from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball. Choose your numbers on a play slip or let the lottery terminal randomly select your numbers. The Powerball jackpot increases until it is won.
Rules to Play Powerball in New Jersey
- The ticket purchaser's lottery game shall be called "POWERBALL," or all lottery tickets for that game issued, or shall have the computer randomly assigning five (5) numbers from field 1, which includes the range between consecutive numbers of one (1) to fifty-nine (59) and one (1) number from field 2, including the range between one (1) and thirty-five (35).
- "POWERBALL" tickets shall be sold to agents authorized to sell such tickets each day during regular business hours. The sales period for any particular "POWERBALL" lottery date will end at 9:59 Eastern time on the day of the drawing. For any of the first eight (8) draws after the date and time of the wagering, bets may be made.

- Only certain authorized lottery agents, chosen by the Lottery Director, will be eligible for POWERBALL lottery tickets.
- The agents shall have an online gaming system terminal on their premises and must show the machine and the affiche or other advertising that sells the "POWERBALL" lottery tickets conspicuously.
- The single wager fee is $2.00, except that a reduction may be set by the Lottery Director for promotional reasons.
- The PowerPlay option may be bought at the discretion of the Purchaser for an extra $1.00, each play or multiple of that in the event of a multi-draw wager
