Florida man wins $1 million prize playing Mega Millions at Publix

David Dowell, a 66-year-old man from North Port, Florida, has won $1 million playing the Mega Millions game.

Dowell purchased his winning ticket from a Publix in his hometown, and although he didn't match the Mega Ball number, he matched all five of the white ball numbers drawn in the Nov. 7 drawing.

The business that sold the winning ticket will receive a $1,000 bonus commission. The Florida Lottery has said that since joining Mega Millions in 2013, the game has generated more than $938 million for education and has awarded more than $835 million in prizes to 68 million players.
