Unclaimed $1.5 Million Powerball Ticket About to Expire at Los Gatos Gas Station
The clock is ticking for the person who purchased a winning Powerball ticket worth $1.5 million at a Mobil gas station in Los Gatos last October.
The ticket will expire on April 24, which is 180 days after it was sold. If the lucky winner fails to come forward before then, the prize money will be donated to California schools, as has been the case for unclaimed lottery prizes in the state for the past 28 years.
Since the lottery's inception, more than $1 billion has been contributed to California schools from unclaimed lottery winnings.
It's unclear why the winner of this particular ticket has not yet claimed their prize, but lottery officials are urging anyone who purchased a Powerball ticket from the Los Gatos Mobil station around the time of the drawing to check their tickets.
