Surrey Man Beats 1-in-3.7-Million Odds to Win $500,000 Lottery

An Indian-origin man in Canada is celebrating a life-changing lottery win after beating some seriously long odds. Surrey resident Sandeep Sidhu hit a $500,000 jackpot by matching all four numbers on his ticket — a feat with odds of about 1 in 3.7 million.

The big moment happened at a gas station. After realizing he’d won, Sidhu rushed home to share the news. His wife wasn’t convinced at first, so he scanned the ticket again right in front of her to prove it was real. That’s when the win finally sank in.

Sidhu later shared that the money came as a total shock.
“It was unexpected and a surprise,” he said.

So what’s first on his list?

  • A long-awaited trip to India

  • Reuniting with family he hasn’t seen in years

For Sidhu, the win isn’t just about the cash — it’s about reconnecting with loved ones and making memories that were long overdue.
