Sudbury Man Strikes Lottery Gold — Twice!

Talk about a lucky streak — one Canadian man just beat the odds again. Marcel Leclaire from Sudbury, Ontario, has officially won the lottery not once, but twice, turning a simple ticket purchase into a multimillion-dollar moment.

Back in 2017, Marcel was wrapping up his workday when he decided to grab a Lotto 6/49 ticket with Encore. “I play Encore every single time — it gives me another shot,” he said. When he checked the ticket at home, he first thought he’d won $1,000... then $10,000… until he spotted those extra zeros — a $1 million Encore top prize.

With his first big win, the then 72-year-old retiree had simple plans: travel across Canada to visit his seven siblings and reconnect with family. But his lottery luck was far from over.

Years later, while making a quick stop at a convenience store, a shiny $30 Instant Platinum ticket caught his attention. “It just stood out,” Marcel said. One scratch later, he couldn’t believe it — he had landed the $3 million top prize.

Now officially a multimillionaire, Marcel plans to buy a new home and share the joy with his loved ones. “This is just amazing,” he said with a smile. “It’s an incredible feeling.”

His winning ticket was purchased at the Circle K on Lasalle Boulevard in Sudbury, where luck clearly seems to hang around.
