Selma man hots lottery jackpot worth $1 million in scratch off, the winner will soon be $1 million times richer than before.
Jay Mays, who is 55 years old, said he opened the door to his house and started running after seeing his winning ticket.
He bought his lottery ticket for just $10 and in return he made $1 million .
Mays bought his lucky Carolina Jackpot ticket from the 42 Express Food Mart and Grill on N.C. 42 East in Middlesex.
He chose the lump-sum amount of $600,000 and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $426,063.
