Oshawa Man Surprised with $100,000 Lottery Win

Vince Drago of Oshawa thought he won $25 with his Instant Gold Pursuit lottery ticket but was overcome when the OLG app showed a much bigger number.

The retired entrepreneur typically plays Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max, but went another route, which was a good choice as he won $100,000.

“When I first played my ticket, I thought I won $25, but when I checked on the OLG app, I saw the big winner screen. I was shocked!” the 65-year-old said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect his winnings.

When he realized he had won big, he woke his wife to share the good news.

“When she saw for herself, she said, 'Well, I can't go back to sleep now,” he laughed. “Sharing the news with my children was also wonderful.

I loved to see them so happy — it was heartwarming.”

The windfall will be shared with his children, and some will go toward his retirement.

“We will celebrate with a weekend getaway with family,” said Drago. The winning ticket was purchased at Real Canadian Superstore on Gibb Street in Oshawa.
