Ohio Teen Wins $10,000 on His First-Ever Lottery Ticket
An Ohio teen got an unforgettable 18th birthday surprise after winning $10,000 on his very first lottery ticket.
Austin, from Lewis Center, stopped at a Columbus gas station just after midnight on his birthday. Buying a scratch-off was mostly a joke, but his first choice was actually a ticket he couldn’t afford. Instead, he grabbed the first $20 ticket he saw.
That random pick turned into a $10,000 win.
Austin and his friend were stunned when they discovered the prize. His friend summed up the moment perfectly: “This is not how adult life goes.”
After taxes, Austin expects to take home about $7,325. He already has a practical way to spend it: getting a new vehicle. His current truck has racked up around 300,000 miles and has recently started giving him trouble.
The winning scratch-off, the $300 Million Diamond Dazzler, has overall odds of 1 in 3.33 for winning any prize, according to the Ohio Lottery.
