North East Postcodes Score Big as Lottery Hands Out £144K Win

Big wins popped up across the North East this past week, and some players walked away with serious cash. Between January ten and January sixteen, eight postcodes scored prizes in the People’s Postcode Lottery — including one massive win worth nearly one hundred fifty thousand pounds.

The standout moment came in Seaton Carew, where players in the TS25 1EB postcode hit the lottery’s “An Unforgettable Year” prize. That meant twelve thousand pounds every month for a full year, adding up to one hundred forty-four thousand pounds. One of the winners, fire control operator Gail Wood, discovered her life-changing prize less than a day after waking up from major surgery — a moment she’ll never forget.

Other parts of the region also had reason to celebrate, with seven more postcodes each landing one thousand pounds per winning ticket. Streets in Sadberge, Stanley, Langley Park, Newcastle, and beyond all saw lucky results.

Here’s a quick snapshot of this week’s winning postcodes and prizes:

  • TS25 1EB, Seaton Carew — £144,000

  • DL2 1SD, Sadberge (Darlington) — £1,000

  • DL2 1RR, Sadberge (Darlington) — £1,000

  • DL8 5QW, Bellerby (North Yorkshire) — £1,000

  • DH7 9TH, Langley Park (County Durham) — £1,000

  • DH9 7AB, Stanley (County Durham) — £1,000

  • NE2 1NY, Newcastle — £1,000

  • TS15 0AT, Crathorne (Yarm) — £1,000

Beyond the cash prizes, the People’s Postcode Lottery also gives back in a big way. At least thirty-three percent of every ticket goes to charity, and since two thousand five, players have helped raise over nine hundred fifty million pounds for thousands of good causes across the UK.
