New Yorker Claims $1 Million Powerball Jackpot Just in Time

Patricia Hastings of Washingtonville, New York, didn't miss her chance to claim the $1 million Powerball jackpot she won back in October 2022.

With only hours to spare before the ticket's expiration, she visited the lottery headquarters and collected her prize.

She matched the first five numbers from the October 26, 2022, Powerball drawing and purchased the winning ticket at Cumberland Farms in Chester, New York.

After necessary deductions, Hastings received a lump-sum payment of $651,000 instead of an annuity.

In the fiscal year 2022-2023, New York's Powerball game generated over $516 million in sales, benefiting education funds in Orange County with $125 million.
