Missouri Man Wins $187,500 From $3 Club Keno Ticket at QuikTrip

A Missouri man turned a simple stop at a QuikTrip in Independence into a huge payday after landing a massive $187,500 Club Keno win.

The lucky player bought a $3 ticket with the Double Bulls-Eye option at the QuikTrip on East Highway 24 back on March 12. By matching nine out of 10 winning numbers, the prize exploded from $15,000 to an eye-popping $187,500 — making it the biggest Club Keno win in Missouri so far this year.

What makes the story even better? The winner admitted he hadn’t played in years and never expected to hit it big.

Big Highlights:

  • ? Winning ticket purchased at an Independence QuikTrip
  • ? Prize jumped from $15,000 to $187,500 thanks to Double Bulls-Eye
  • ? Matched 9 of the 10 winning numbers
  • ? Prize officially claimed on April 29

The winner said he first scanned the ticket but didn’t immediately see the amount he won. Curious, he searched the results online and realized he had just scored a life-changing jackpot.

Missouri Lottery officials also noted that taxes apply to large winnings. Prizes over $600 are subject to a 4% state tax withholding, while winnings above $5,000 also face a 24% federal withholding. Depending on personal income, additional taxes could still apply.

Jackson County players have already seen major lottery success recently, collecting more than $96.8 million in prizes during the 2025 fiscal year. Retailers across the county also earned over $8.9 million in commissions and bonuses.
