Michigan Woman Wins $100K After ChatGPT Picks Her Powerball Numbers
Michigan Woman Wins $100K After Letting ChatGPT Pick Her Powerball Numbers
NEED TO KNOW:
-
Tammy Carvey, 45, from Wyandotte, Michigan, won $100,000 playing Powerball.
-
Her winning numbers? Chosen by ChatGPT.
-
She and her husband were in “total disbelief.”
-
This marks the second recent win where a player used AI to select lottery numbers.
Tammy Carvey didn’t just rely on luck—she trusted tech. When the Powerball jackpot soared past $1 billion, the 45-year-old decided to buy a ticket online at MichiganLottery.com. But instead of picking her own numbers, she asked ChatGPT to do it for her.
“I only play when the jackpot’s huge,” Carvey told lottery officials. “So I figured, why not let AI take a shot at it?”
Her gamble paid off big time. At first, she thought she’d scored $50,000 after matching four white balls and the Powerball. But when she checked her account, she realized she’d added the Power Play—doubling her prize to $100,000.
“My husband and I were in total disbelief,” she said.
Carvey plans to pay off her home and save the rest of her winnings.
Interestingly, she’s not the only one striking gold with AI’s help. Just days later, a Virginia woman named Carrie Edwards used ChatGPT to pick her Powerball numbers—and walked away with $150,000, which she donated to charity.
Looks like ChatGPT might just be the luckiest “player” in town.
