Michigan Woman's Surprise Win: $1 Million Lottery Prize with a Second Choice Ticket
An Otsego County resident, 67-year-old Bonnie Hitchings from Johannesburg, hit the jackpot with her second-choice instant lottery ticket, bagging the game's grand prize of $1 million, as reported by the Michigan Lottery.
Bonnie initially aimed to buy a Win $100, $200, or $500 instant ticket at the Shell gas station on 1025 W. Main St. in Gaylord. However, encountering the game's unavailability, she decided on a $20 Cashword Times 20 ticket instead.
Describing the exhilarating moment, Bonnie recounted, "I scratched the barcode and scanned the ticket three times. With each attempt prompting me to file a claim at the lottery office, I assumed their scanner was faulty.
So, I went to my car to scan it using the Lottery app. Lo and behold, confetti burst on the screen with a message announcing my $1 million win.
Excitedly, I went back into the store to share the news, and everyone there joined in the celebration.
Everywhere I go now, people stop to offer congratulations. It’s an incredible and thrilling experience!"
