Michigan Man Wins $2 Million Lottery Prize, Plans to Pay Off Debt
A 37-year-old Wayne County man is celebrating a $2 million Michigan Lottery win — and he already knows exactly what he wants to do with the money.
The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, bought a $20 Big Money Pay Day instant ticket at Safeway Market Inc. on Dix Street in Detroit. He scratched the ticket in his car before heading home and was stunned to see the $2 million prize.
“I was in complete shock!”
He said he regularly buys scratch-off tickets and has picked up smaller prizes before, but never expected to land a life-changing jackpot.
How he plans to use the money
- Pay off all his debt
- Save the remaining money for the future
- Take home about $1.3 million upfront after choosing the lump-sum option instead of annuity payments
The Big Money Pay Day game costs $20 per ticket and launched with three $2 million top prizes. According to the Michigan Lottery, two top prizes are still available.
