Maryland Lottery Winner Reveals Decades-Long Winning Strategy for £40,000 Jackpot
An anonymous Maryland man, known as "Fego," recently achieved a long-awaited victory in the Bonus Match 5 lottery game, securing a substantial £40,000 after four decades of playing.
Fego, who hails from Prince George's County, shared his unique number-picking strategy, stating, "I play the ones that show up a lot, the numbers that appear often."
Playing the lottery since 1980, Fego's unconventional technique finally paid off when he purchased his winning ticket on January 9 for just £1.50 at a convenience store in Riverdale. The Maryland Lottery website revealed that all three lines of Fego's ticket contained sets of his personal numbers, bringing him significant luck compared to his previous smaller wins.
Fego's winning numbers—5, 11, 18, 26, and 29—earned him the £40,000 jackpot. Plans for the winnings include paying off bills and sharing a portion with his brother. The convenience store where Fego bought the ticket also receives a prize for being the lucky retailer in this jackpot win.
