Lucky Fairfax County man scoop million dollar Powerball win

A Fairfax County man claimed the $1 million Powerball prize he won after purchasing the winning ticket in Kingstowne, according to the Virginia Lottery.

Dennis Mastie matched five of the six winning numbers to win $1 million for the Jan. 23 Powerball drawing.

He bought the ticket at the Giant Food at 5870 Kingstowne Boulevard.

The winning numbers ended up being 12-31-47-58-60, and the Powerball number was 23. The only number he did not match was the Powerball number.

“I’m in shock,” Mastie told Virginia Lottery officials as he claimed his prize.

“I had no idea.” Mastie, who is retired, said he has no immediate plans for his winnings.
