Lottery ticket worth $1 million won by a Durham resident, the winner celebrates as they wins the lottery worth $1 million.
Kenneth Larsen who is 71 years old from Durham said he decided "on a whim" to purchase the scratch-off ticket that led to his $1 million win.
Larsen bought the $30 Millionaire Maker ticket from the Quality Mart on Presidential Drive in Durham.
He also says that he plays lottery very less and now he has won $1 million which was very shocking for him.
Larsen picked up his prize Wednesday from lottery headquarters in Raleigh. He chose the option of getting the lottery prize in a one time lump sum worth $426,069 after taxes.
He said his winnings will help him retire at the end of the year.
