Lightning Strikes Twice: Welsh Couple Wins the Lottery Again
Winning the lottery once is rare. Winning it twice? That’s the kind of luck most people only joke about. But for one Welsh couple, the impossible became reality—again.
Richard Davies, 49, and his wife, Faye Stevenson-Davies, 43, just claimed their second £1 million prize from the U.K.’s National Lottery, beating odds estimated at a mind-blowing one in 24 trillion. The win followed a strong gut feeling that told them to keep playing, even when logic said otherwise.
Their first big moment came back in June 2018, when they landed £1 million through a EuroMillions Millionaire Maker draw. Instead of walking away, the couple kept buying tickets, quietly hoping lightning might strike twice.
This time, the journey took a few extra steps. A small win led to a free Lucky Dip, which rolled over into the next draw—then the next—until everything lined up just right.
How the second win unfolded:
-
Matched two numbers and earned a free Lucky Dip
-
That ticket rolled into the next draw
-
Four consecutive draws later—boom, £1 million
Despite the massive windfall, the couple plans to stick with their everyday routines. Davies says he’ll keep working seven days a week as a courier during the busy Christmas season, while Stevenson-Davies will continue supporting her mental health clients—even on Christmas Day.
They’re also in no rush to spend the money. After their first win, they bought cars for loved ones, donated a minibus to a local rugby team, and helped friends and family wherever they could.
“This time, we’re just going to slow down and enjoy the moment,” Davies said.
While their odds-defying story is extreme, they’re not alone in winning twice. In recent years, a few U.S. players have also pulled off double lottery wins, proving that once in a while, luck really does show up more than once.
