A routine lottery purchase turned into a $1 million surprise for a 58-year-old Kentwood woman who says she plays the lottery every day.
She bought a $10 $1,000,000 Bonus Scratch Multiplier ticket at Aikan Liquor on 44th Street SE. After scratching it at home, she realized she had hit the top prize—and her reaction was priceless.
“I screamed so loud that I scared my son!” she told the Michigan Lottery.
The lucky winner chose a one-time lump-sum payment of about $693,000 and plans to save most of the money.
For her, the windfall is more than just a huge payday. She said winning the prize is a major relief, adding that it will ease financial stress, make life more comfortable, and give her and her son a chance to enjoy themselves.
