Holiday Surprise: Nepean Resident Hits $500,000 Lottery Win

Ontario Man Hits $500K Maxmillions Jackpot During Holiday Cheer

Kyle Stimpson of Nepean had the ultimate holiday surprise — a $500,000 Maxmillions win from the Dec. 23, 2025, Lotto Max draw. His ticket was one of two splitting a $1-million Maxmillions prize, turning dreams into reality for the 28-year-old.

An occasional lottery player since he was old enough, Stimpson grabbed his ticket at a gas station after hearing the jackpot had climbed to $80 million. “I was at a family party, and everyone was talking about the jackpot. I bought the ticket with about an hour to spare before sales closed,” he said at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

The high-end automotive worker left the ticket on his fridge for days while enjoying the holidays. When he finally checked it on the OLG app, he was stunned. “I saw the ‘Big Winner’ message and thought it was a glitch! I scanned it again, took a screenshot, and sent it to my girlfriend. I couldn’t believe it!”

And the timing couldn’t have been better. Over the holidays, Kyle got engaged, announced that he and his partner are expecting their first child — and then this massive lottery win. “I never imagined winning something like this. I’m so happy and thankful. This is going to be a magical year for my growing family,” he beamed.

His winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on Greenbank Road in Nepean. With Lotto Max draws continuing every week, the next one is Friday, Feb. 27 — and Tuesday’s draw already had three Canadians snag the second prize!
