Hartsville Man’s Loyalty to Lottery Finally Brings Big Reward

A longtime lottery player from Hartsville is finally seeing his dedication pay off — and in a big way.

After playing faithfully for decades, the man told South Carolina Education Lottery that he’s been buying tickets ever since the lottery first launched. And now, his patience has paid off.

He recently grabbed a quick-pick Powerball ticket from Lotto Palace II on South 5th Street — and came just one number away from hitting the jackpot on October 29.

“I’ve always wanted to win more than $500,” he shared. “I used to dream about making that trip to Columbia with a big ticket.”

And that dream is finally becoming real.

? Why This Win Is Special

  • He’s been playing since the beginning — decades of loyalty

  • Missed the jackpot by just one number

  • Beat odds of 1 in 913,129

  • Plans to invest the winnings in home renovations

Now, instead of long drives and small prizes, he’s focused on upgrading his home and enjoying the moment.

“It’s exciting,” he said with a smile.
