Group of Kentucky Educators Split $1 Million Powerball Prize

A $1 million Powerball prize sold in northern Kentucky has been claimed by a group of 30 educators and former educators, bringing their shared dream to fruition.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Kroger on North Bend Road in Hebron. The winning numbers from Saturday night's draw were: 7, 38, 65, 66, 68, with the Powerball number 21.

Although they missed the Powerball, their ticket matched all five white ball numbers, securing the game's second prize of $1 million.

The group, known as "The Jones 30," formed their bond while working at Jones Middle School 14, with members including counselors, administrators, special education teachers, and the school nurse.

Despite some members moving on or retiring, they continued to play the same numbers over the years, always remaining a group of 30.

While only 13 members still work at Jones Middle School, they all showed up for work on Monday after making plans to divide their winnings. Some members are retired or work in neighboring schools.

They intend to split the $1 million prize among themselves, fulfilling their long-held aspiration.
