Georgia Lottery Delivers Record $1.54 Billion for Education in FY2026

The Georgia Lottery reached another major milestone, transferring $1.54 billion to education programs during fiscal year 2026. Since launching in 1993, the lottery has now contributed more than $31.3 billion to Georgia's Lottery for Education Account.

Highlights from FY2026

• $1.54 billion raised for education.
• 11th straight year with more than $1 billion in education profits.
• FY2026 exceeded the previous year's total by $69.5 million.

Governor Brian Kemp said the lottery has generated $11.48 billion over the past eight years to support the HOPE Scholarship and Georgia Pre-K Program. He noted that, combined with expanded education funding, full HOPE tuition coverage, and the elimination of institutional fees, more students can afford access to higher education.

Georgia Lottery President and CEO Gretchen Corbin called FY2026 an outstanding year and thanked retailers, employees, vendors, partners, board members, and players for making the success possible. She emphasized that every lottery ticket purchased helps fund scholarships and early childhood education across the state.

Biggest Winner Ever 🎉

FY2026 also featured a historic jackpot moment. A lucky player in Newnan won a staggering $983 million Mega Millions prize—the largest lottery jackpot ever won in Georgia. The winning ticket was sold in November, and the prize was officially claimed in January.
