Charlotte woman wins Cash 5 lottery ticket worth $100,000

A lucky woman from Charlotte named Georgia Richardson won a whopping sum of $100,000 playing North Carolina Education Lottery’s Cash 5 Bonus Cash Drawing. 

The winning ticket was sold at the Harris Teeter on Providence Road in Charlotte. The store will receive a bonus of $1000 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket. 

The winner recently claimed her winning amount from the lottery headquarters and took home $71,250 after state and federal taxes.

The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) is run by the government of North Carolina.

The revenue distributions are as follows: 51% was paid out in prizes, 38% was transferred into the education fund, 7% was paid to the retailers who sold lottery tickets, and 4% went to general lottery expenses.
