Charlotte Resident Wins $150,000 on Scratch-Off Lottery Ticket
A fortunate resident of Charlotte, Edgar Hernandez, decided to try his luck with a $5 scratch-off lottery ticket and ended up winning a substantial $150,000 prize.
Hernandez's winning Cashword Multiplier ticket was purchased at the Xpress Market on Tuckaseegee Road in Mount Holly.
Once he scratched the ticket, he was pleasantly surprised to find out he had won $150,000. After the necessary state and federal tax deductions, Hernandez received a total of $106,876.
While Hernandez celebrates his win, many continue to keep a close watch on the massive $1.7 billion Powerball jackpot that's up for grabs in the upcoming Wednesday night drawing.
It's worth noting that the previous Monday's $1.55 billion jackpot was the third-largest in Powerball history and has only grown larger as no one managed to match all five white balls and the Powerball.
The top prize hasn't been won for 34 drawings since July.
