A convenience store in San Bernardino, California, sold a winning lottery ticket with five matching numbers, but without the Mega number.

The lucky winner will take home a prize of $237,118, as announced by the Multi-State Lottery Association, the organization in charge of conducting the game.

Although in other states, a ticket with five matching numbers but without the Mega number would earn the player a prize of $1 million or a multiple of it, California's law mandates a different payout system.

The state requires major lottery prizes to be distributed on a pari-mutuel basis, which means the prize amount is calculated based on the total number of winning tickets and the overall sales of the game.
