Accidental Purchase Leads to Whopping £461,538 Win in People's Postcode Lottery

Michael Stokes, aged 61, along with his wife Sandra from Earl Shilton, Leicestershire, nearly missed out on a substantial prize of £461,538 from the People's Postcode Lottery due to an accidental purchase of extra lottery tickets.

The couple, who shared the £1 million jackpot with six of their neighbors, had originally bought six tickets between them. However, Michael unintentionally bought four additional tickets when he thought he had cancelled his direct debit for the lottery.

Fortunately, Michael refrained from cancelling the extra tickets before the draw, resulting in their unexpected win. Sandra, aged 67, purchased the remaining two tickets, winning her a prize of £153,846.

The significant windfall arrived at a crucial juncture for Michael, who had been dealing with health issues. Having faced blocked arteries and two strokes, which could have been fatal, the lottery win came as a bright spot during his recovery. Michael's two operations and the generous win have helped alleviate the challenges he faced over the past year.

Michael expressed his astonishment at the unexpected turn of events, stating that he had never seen such large figures in his bank account before. He plans to use the money to support his children's aspirations and provide them with opportunities.

Sandra, on the other hand, is considering fully retiring from her job as a midwife after taking semi-retirement previously.

The couple's accidental ticket purchase turned into a life-changing stroke of luck, providing financial relief and the chance to make meaningful choices for their future.
