A woman from Virginia wins $2.5 million recently in powerball lottery

Virginia resident Marcy Smith is the latest jackpot winner of the Powerball lottery. She won a staggering $2.5 million from the draw held on Wednesday night.

The lucky winner said she was "shocked and excited" after she learned of the win.

She purchased the winning ticket at a local convenience store, and plans to use the money to pay off her house, take a vacation and share it with her family.

The Powerball is one of the most popular lottery games in the United States. The game is played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with players selecting five numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26.

Marcy Smith's win is the latest in a string of Powerball jackpot wins. Last month, a winning ticket was sold in New Jersey for a $533 million jackpot. The Powerball prize pool grows with each rollover, and the next draw is set for Saturday night.
