A winning Massachusetts lottery ticket is sold out in Somerville recently
One lucky lottery player claimed $1 million Friday from a ticket sold for $5 at a liquor store in Somerville.
The winner scored their seven-figure prize after buying their winning ticket from Bairos Liquor in the Greater Boston city, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery’s website.
The award amounts to $650,000 before taxes. The person who won the $1 million Friday was playing “MONOPOLY™ 50X.”
The odds of winning $1 million, the top prize in the lottery scratch-off game, are one in 2.688 million. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are one in 4.03.
To score a prize in “MONOPOLY™ 50X,” a player has to match any of their numbers to any of the winning numbers shown. If a player gets a “2X,” “5X,” “10X,” “20X” or “50X” symbol, they win two, five, 10, 20 or 50 times the prize respectively.
If a player gets a train symbol, they win the prize shown automatically, and if they get a “Mr. Monopoly” symbol, they the win the prize shown for that symbol.
