A Massachusetts lottery player wins $100,000 from a convenience store

One convenience store in Massachusetts sold a winning $100,000 “Mass Cash” lottery ticket Friday.

The winning ticket was sold at Classic Market in Weymouth, and the $100,000 prize was won during Friday’s night’s “Mass Cash” drawing, according to the State Lottery’s website.

The winning numbers were five, nine, 16, 23 and 31. The odds of winning $100,000, the top prize that can be won in “Mass Cash,” are one in 324,632.

To play the game, participants must select five numbers between one and 35 manually or randomly by using the lottery computer system. Each play costs $1. Drawings take place every day at 9 p.m.

The winner of the $100,000 was not the only lucky lottery player in the commonwealth this week. On Thursday, two people claimed $4 million grand prizes from winning tickets they bought in Fall River and Tewksbury.

On Tuesday, one person claimed a $1 million prize from a winning ticket they bought in Wakefield, and on Monday, three players in Massachusetts each walked away with $100,000 prizes.
