A man from Palmyra won $500,000 from a Virginia Lottery scratcher ticket

A man from Palmyra won $500,000 from a Virginia Lottery scratcher ticket, the winner will soon be $500k times richer than before. 

Sharod Hawkins bought a Payday Bonus ticket at the Fas Mart on Crofton Place last week.

Payday Bonus features prizes that range from $20 to the top prize of $500,000.

But Hawkins was lucky enough to score a total of half a million dollars in lottery. 

Virginia Lottery says this is the first top prize to be claimed from this game. There are two more.

Hawkins says he intends to use his winnings to take care of his family and help his father retire.
