A lucky Massachusetts state lottery player wins a big jackpot recently

A man from Massachusetts claimed a $1 million prize he won from a $50 lottery scratch ticket on April 5, the Massachusetts State Lottery said.

Francis Nowak, a man from Ludlow, claimed his $1 million prize from the lottery’s “Billion Dollar Extravaganza” scratch ticket game, which was released in February this year.

Nowak chose the cash option on his prize, and received a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes. The Ludlow man told the lottery he wants to use some of the cash to buy a new car.

Nowak bought his winning $1 million ticket at B D Market, located at 2701 Boston Rd. in Wilbraham. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket.

This $1 million prize is just the third $1 million claimed from the “Billion Dollar Extravaganza” game, which rolled out in the state on February 7.

Interim Lottery Director, Mark William Bracken, stated the $50 scratch ticket is a large part of the reason lottery sales were up by 20% in February.
