A fortunate Stanislaus county guy wins $1 million in scratch off lottery game

A California man turned a taco craving into $1 million when he made a stop with his wife to grab a bite in Patterson.

Tim Dynes has a tradition of stopping by G’s Food Mart on East Las Palmas Avenue and picking up a couple of scratch-off tickets while the couple wait for their order at their favorite taco truck, according to a Friday news release from the California Lottery.

He uncovered lucky number 17 toward the end of his Diamond 8’s game, which matched one of the winning numbers, and unveiled the hefty prize.

Dynes tried to keep his composure while continuing to wait for his dinner, according to the release. He’d been a lottery winner before, but scored prizes with fewer zeros.

‘“Do you know how hard it was to keep a straight face?” he told the California Lottery. “Nobody knew I won — not even my wife until I told her on the drive home.”
