A fortunate man from Oak Island scoops $100,000 recently
One man in a Brunswick County beach town is $100,000 richer after playing a $30 scratch-off in the N.C. Education Lottery.
Donald Aughenbaugh of Oak Island purchased a 200X The Cash ticket from Olde Brunswick General Store on Fifty Lakes Drive in Southport.
He took home just over $71,000 after federal tax withholdings. The 200X The Cash game launched last March, according to a release from the lotter.
There are six top prizes of $5 million, of which three have been claimed, and 18 $100,000 prizes; six remain.
Lottery ticket sales average an additional $2.5 million a day on education statewide.
The winner has to reach the nearest lottery headquarters for further documentation formalities and for claiming their winning prize money, lottery officials said.
