A fortunate Kent County guy wins $300,000 recently in scratch off lottery

A change in routine helped a 47-year-old Kent County man win $300,000 from the Michigan Lottery. The Michigan Lottery said the player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at the Family Fare Quick Stop, located at 2755 Lake Michigan Drive in Grand Rapids.

Once he scratched off his $5 Fire & Ice Cashword ticket, he locked his truck doors and drove straight home. “I typically play the $2 Cashword game but decided to try the Fire & Ice Cashword game instead,” said the player. “I scratched the ticket when I got in my truck.

When I revealed the sixth red word, I checked the ticket over at least 10 times before taking it back into the store and scanning it.

When the ‘file a claim’ message came up on the Lottery machine, I walked back to my truck, locked the doors, and drove straight home to put the ticket in a safe spot."

The lucky winner recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. He plans to pay off his house and invest.
