A fortunate Burnet resident wins a big jackpot recently in a lottery

Becoming a newly minted millionaire must be a great way to start the week. A Texas Hill Country resident and a Rio Grande Valley resident found that out after hitting scratch off jackpots.

A Burnet resident won $1 million off of a Gold Rush Texas Lottery scratch game ticket, according to a Texas Lottery news release.

The resident chose to stay anonymous, because who wants the world to know you just became a millionaire? The ticket was purchased at Bertram Grocery, which is roughly 18 miles northwest of Leander and located at 320 W. Highway 29, Bertram, TX 78605.

The $1 million grand prize is the first of four top prizes to be claimed for the Gold Rush game.

The odds of winning any prize in the Gold Rush game are one in 3.98, including break-even prizes, the release reads.

To date, over $122.8 million has been won by players scratching Gold Rush tickets.
