$20 Turns Into $2 Million: Michigan Lottery Player Hits Big on 100X Game
A quick stop at the store turned life-changing for a 32-year-old Wayne County man. With just $20, he snagged a $2 million win on Michigan Lottery’s 100X instant game.
The lucky ticket came from Fleck’s Fresh Mart on Michigan Avenue in Canton. The player, who wants to stay anonymous, said he doesn’t usually play 100X but grabbed a few on a whim. Scratching the ticket, he matched number 11 with “$2MIL” underneath—and at first, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
“I kept asking myself, ‘What does this mean?’” he said. It wasn’t until his mom double-checked the ticket that reality set in. “Turning $20 into $2 million is unbelievable,” he added, admitting it still doesn’t feel real.
Instead of annuity payments, the winner took a one-time lump sum of about $1.3 million and plans to save his winnings.
Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli praised the win, saying: “The decision to purchase a few tickets on a whim changed this lucky player’s life forever!”
The 100X game, which launched in January, has already paid out more than $68 million. And the fun isn’t over yet—there’s still a $2 million top prize out there, along with eight prizes of $10,000 and 142 prizes of $2,000.
For context, instant games in Michigan handed out nearly $1.8 billion in prizes just last year.
