$197,766 Michigan Lottery Prize Goes Unclaimed After Ticket Expires
A $197,766 Michigan Lottery prize is officially gone unclaimed after the winning ticket expired Friday.
The Fantasy 5 ticket was purchased last September at Max William LLC on the 31,000 block of Michigan Highway 140 in Covert Township. Lottery officials said the ticket expired at 4:45 p.m. Friday, ending the winner’s chance to claim the prize.

Under Michigan law, unclaimed lottery prizes are transferred to the Michigan School Aid Fund, which supports school districts, higher education and retirement systems for school employees.
Fantasy 5 tickets remain valid for one year after the drawing date. The jackpot starts at $100,000, with odds of hitting the jackpot listed at about 1 in 575,757.
And while $197,766 is a huge amount to leave behind, it isn't Michigan's biggest forgotten prize. That record dates back to 1998, when a $34 million winning ticket sold at a Meijer store in East Lansing was never claimed.
