A lucky Burlington guy wins a big jackpot in scratch off lottery game

One lucky Burlington man took a chance on a Spectacular Riches scratch-off ticket and it worked out in his favor.

Eveling Tercero Escalante bought a $25 scratch-off ticket from Kim's Mart on West Webb Avenue in Burlington and won a $1 million prize.

Escalante had the option to take home an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000.

He chose the lump sum and took home $429,007 after state taxes. The Spectacular Riches game debuted in October 2021 with eight $1 million top prizes and 20 $100,000 prizes.

One $1 million prize and three $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

The winner has to reach the nearest lottery headquarters for further documentation formalities and for claiming their winning prize money, lottery officials said.
