Thibodaux man won $1 million Powerball prize after purchasing a ticket in Geismar, the winner of the lottery will soon be $1 million times richer than before.
Raymond Hawkins claimed his prize after matching all five white ball numbers during the Sept. 24 Powerball drawing. He purchased the ticket at the RacTrac location on LA 73.
The winner chose the option of getting the winning prize as a one time lump sum instead of getting the full amount in annuity. Therefore the winner took home $717,500 after all the taxes applied.
The gas station from where the winner purchased the lottery ticket also earned a 1% bonus or $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.
