Stanislaus County man wins $1M on scratcher, California Lottery says

A lucky Stanislaus County man named Daniel Fagundes won a whopping sum of $1 million playing with California Lottery’s Power 10’s ticket.

The winning ticket was sold at Santa Fe Market & Liquor in Hughson. The ticket distributor will get a bonus of $10,000 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket.

“I scratched it right there in the store and knew I won right away. I was in shock,” he told lottery officials.

He plans of taking retirement from his work and spend his life peacefully with the winning amount.

California sells scratch cards under the branding "Scratchers". The prizes are smaller than other lottery games, but there are better odds.

For each prize of less than $600, players may collect from either a Lottery retailer or the Lottery itself. Prizes of $600 or more must be collected from the Lottery, via claim form.
