St. Catharines Resident Wins $156,208.80 Poker Lotto All In Jackpot

Albert (Bert) Schonewille of St. Catharines anted up and went ‘all in’ to win the Poker Lotto All In jackpot worth $156,208.80 on Nov. 18, 2023.

He also won $5,000 on the instant portion of his Poker Lotto play, bringing his total winnings to $161,208.80. Bert, 63, says Poker Lotto is his all-time favorite game.

"I've been playing the lottery since I turned 18," he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his windfall.

The self-employed man decided to buy some tickets while getting gas.

"When the machine made noises, I instantly knew I won. I think I was shaking for 20 minutes before I came to my senses," he said.

"My smile was so big – I've never been happier!" "I called my wife while at the store, and she was beyond excited.

This couldn't have happened at a better time." Bert plans to rebuild his home with his win.

"It’s a fabulous feeling.

I won the lottery!" Bert concluded.

Poker Lotto players can opt for All In for an additional $1 to take a chance on instantly winning a jackpot that starts at $10,000 and grows until it is won. 

The winning ticket was purchased at the Canadian Tire Gas Bar on Thorold Stone Road in Niagara Falls.
