$3M lottery win brings Lowcountry player to tears

A lucky resident of North Charleston, South Carolina, has won a $3 million prize from the Mega Millions lottery.

The player purchased the winning ticket from the Quickpantry on Dorchester Road for the March 17 drawing, matching all but one number and purchasing the Megaplier.

According to South Carolina lottery officials, the winner plans to use some of the winnings to help his family. The odds of winning $3 million are 1 in 12,607,306, making this a truly remarkable win.

Quickpantry also received a $30,000 commission for selling the claimed ticket.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game that is played in 45 states, as well as Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The game is one of the largest in the world and regularly offers jackpots worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
