Quebec man won Lotto 6/49 jackpot worth $36 million
A Quebec man named Jean-Marc Poirier won Lotto 6/49 jackpot worth $36 million which was the first-ever Gold Ball Jackpot sold in Canada.
Poirier officially found out he was a winner for the October 29 draw after Loto-Québec contacted him, but he didn't come forward to claim his prize until early February.
"Due to the magnitude of the news, the Lanaudière resident decided to wait a bit before telling his loved ones and claiming his prize," said the press release.
He plans to continue practising his favourite hobbies, like working on cars and also bought himself a new vehicle and plans to travel to Costa Rica.
Lotto 6/49 is one of three national lottery games in Canada. Winning numbers are drawn by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC) every Wednesday and Saturday, executed with a random number generator.
