Winner of record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot finally comes forward

A winning Powerball lottery ticket worth $2.04 billion that was sold in California was finally claimed on Monday. 

The winning ticket was purchased at Joe’s Service Center in Altadena, just east of Los Angeles. The store has already received the bonus of $1 million for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket. 

The $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot with a cash value of $997.6 million reached the world record-setting size in November after 41 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner.

Powerball is an American lottery game offered by 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. 

Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evening at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time, at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee.
