$1 Million Lottery Win Hits Painted Post in New York Raffle Drawing

An Upstate New York lottery player just scored big ?

Painted Post resident Amritpal Singh landed a $1 million win in New York’s Million Dollar Raffle, a special promotional drawing held on October 26. His winning ticket was purchased at A&A Food Mart in Painted Post, making it a lucky stop for locals.

After required tax withholdings, Singh chose the lump-sum option and will take home $650,788 in cash — not a bad payday at all.

Why this raffle was special

The Million Dollar Raffle was created to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal, and only 15 tickets statewide were selected for the top $1 million prize.

Fun bonus: The store that sold Singh’s winning ticket earned a $5,000 retailer reward for being part of the big win.
