Lottery winner thought email alert about $1M prize was junk and deleted it

Shuai Wang, a 40-year-old mother from Newmarket, Ontario, was thrilled when she found out she had won $1 million in Lotto 6/49.

After signing up for the OLG lottery subscription during the pandemic, she received an email notifying her of her win, which she initially thought was junk and deleted. However, after a second email notification, she checked her account and realized that she had indeed become an instant millionaire.

Wang plans to use her newfound wealth to pursue her dream of getting a doctorate degree, as well as to treat her family to some fun in the sun by going on a family trip.

She also plans to surprise her husband with concert tickets to see his favourite band. In addition to the $1 million prize, Wang also received an extra $10 with the Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw.

Lotto 6/49 is one of three national lottery games in Canada.

Winning numbers are drawn by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC) every Wednesday and Saturday, executed with a random number generator.
